The Port Mass Grave: Excavations are back underway... An unexpected discovery of human skeleton remains was made on August 13, 2024, during the construction work of the highway being built from the Ingurukade junction to the port of Colombo. These remnants were then excavated under the supervision of Bandara Illangasinghe, the additional magistrate of Aluthkade, Colombo, on 2024.09.05. The initial phase of it was excavated from 2024.09.05 to 2024.09.14. Under the initiative of Professor Raj Somadeva, the Colombo Forensic Officer and Archaeology Professor and Excavation Expert in charge of excavations, four human bone systems, teeth, a skull, and other skeletal remains were discovered. The first phase of excavation work was thus completed, and the second phase was started on 27.01.2025.On the second day of excavation, two more pits are being dug in the vicinity with the help of excavators. Which time period is this mass grave from? Is it a group of persons who have been the victims of a crime?
