During the excavation work carried out on 2025.06.02, several skeletal remains belonging to 05 bodies were found

Location: Jaffna, Chemmani, next to the Sitthupattu Cemetery
⛔ Incident: While working on a development project, workers discovered remains of human bones by accident.
⛔ Complaint: The officers in charge of the development project have reported the incident to the Jaffna Police Station.
⛔ Court Order: The Jaffna Police requested an order from the Jaffna Magistrate's Court to halt the construction project, and an order was issued to do so entirely and undertake excavations as part of further investigations.
⛔ Excavation: After the magistrate examined the pertinent location, excavation activity got underway under the supervision of a group of professionals.
⛔ During the excavation work carried out on 2025.06.02, several skeletal remains belonging to 05 bodies were found.
NB: It has not yet been determined who these skeleton remains belong to, what period of time they belong to, if they were buried properly, or whether they were unlawfully disposed of and hidden from family members after being subjected to a crime.
This requires a forensic medical examination, a forensic archaeological inspection, and a carbon copy examination for dating.
