What will happen to the petition against Nilantha Jayawardena?
Nilantha Jayawardena, former head of the State Intelligence Service, is facing a number of charges in connection with the Easter attacks for failing to take action to prevent an attack on Easter Sunday despite knowing and receiving intelligence information about it. Father Rohan Silva, Director of the Social and Community Center, and Surach Nilanga, a victim of the Easter Sunday attack, had submitted a petition to the Court of Appeal Requesting to issue an order to the Attorney General and the Inspector General of Police to take steps to file a case against Nilantha Jayawardena under the Criminal Law
The Court of Appeal ordered that the petition be heard on October 14th.
Previously, the Supreme Court ordered Nilantha Jayawardena to make monetary restitution to the victims of the Easter attack.
