The Supreme Court has ordered that two police officers who were found guilty of arresting, abusing, and torturing a young man pay him compensation.
In 2019, the young man filed a Fundamental Rights Petition with the Supreme Court against the two respondents, the OIC of the Uragas Junction and the OIC of the Crime Branch, alleging a violation of his fundamental rights.

In deciding the suit, the Supreme Court ordered the two guilty officers to pay 1 million rupees each and court fees to the tormented young man, with the payment to be completed within 6 months.
